Charlie Brown Cafe @ Straits Quay, Penang

After the success outlets in Hong Kong, China, Korea, Indonesia and Singapore, its time for Malaysia to have their very first outlet located in Straits Quay in Penang.

I guessed Charlie Brown Cafe are trying to compete with other well known fast food outlet. Why i say this? This is a self service outlet. That means you order food and beverages from their cashier counter. Surprisingly, there are only one cashier counter and the queue are so long. When come my turn, the order taker told me the food are limited. It was quite disappointing.

Overall, they have the ambiance to chill and hang out with friends, family and lover.

Understand Poultry

The varsitility, the popularity and the relatively low cost of poultry items make them ideal for all kinds of food service operations, from elegants restaurant to cafeterias and fast food restaurants. All chicken and poultry are popular among diet concious people because they are lower in fat and cholesterol than other meat. Game bird such as phesant, are also increasing in popularity and availability because they are now raised domestically by many producers. Farm raised game birds are similar, in many ways, to chicken, so learning techniques for cooking and handling chicken teaches you a great deal about handling this other birds as well. Learning about poultry is, in some ways, easier than learning about meat like beef and lamb, because chicken, turkey and other poultry are much smaller, they are cut up in such details. However, poultry has its own cooking problems, so it is important to observe both the similarities and the differences between meat and poultry.

Market Hall @ Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

It was a fantastic weekend out with two of our good friends. Coffee, beer, dinner and coffee again. Come dinner time, one of my friend suggested Market Hall on level 6 Pavilion.

The Menu

Italian flat bread. If I'm not mistaken its called Piadina


Tomato dip for the bread. If mix a bit of cumin powder and tabasco, it will be perfect


Caesar salad. The beef bacon is a bit tough


Tagliatelle with fresh salmon tossed in vodka and mascarpone cream sauce. The pasta are made fresh

Tadaa... Aussie Burger with beef patties, cheese and pineapple ring. The bun are ciabatta

Yeah... Yeah... Yeah... I've been lazy, I know.

My half flew into town early morning. I saw this outlet long time ago but couldn't have the chance to try it out. Since my half is here on the weekend, I decided to bring her here for lunch.

Don't fool by its name. Its not a normal cafe but they are serving semi fine dining concept. As per their manager, the chef are from Golden Of the Palaces Horses. Staffs are fantastic friendly. Sit inside and you will feel how cozy it is with their nice interior design. They also have al fresco area but it will be slightly hot in the afternoon.

Lemongrass Juice and Ribena with Longan. The ice are from the juices itself to maintain the flavour

Mozarella Cheese Ball. Chunky of cheese in the middle. If mix with cheddar will be "perfect"

45 minutes poached egg on Herb Toast. Why 45 minutes? They maintain the water temperature for 45 minutes at a certain level to get the best texture of the egg

Surprise? This is we normally love to eat. Chicken Rice served with chicken consomme

We finished off our dinner with Durian Ice Cream and

Black Sesame Ice Cream

Thanks to the manager (Nicholas Lim), for his suggestion. The ice cream are marvelous.
